Hi folks,

just a short hint, don't forget to mention at which sample rate you doing your tests.

regards,
Alex

yea evoid, you'll see a HUGE jump from the G4 733. just running various songs and full productions that almost maxed out my Dual 1.25 GHz (track count and plugins) runs at less than half the load on the Dual G5. Computationally, the G5 is almost 3 times more powerful than the Dual 1.25Ghz G4. :D

oh... running 44.1K at buffersizes of 64 samples or 128 samples. the productions I talked about in the last post was running Logic with either Live rewired or Reason rewired.

I did a test RME Multiface against Moto 828mkII...
The interfaces sound exactly the same by now..it seems that motu updated the converters...actually i liked the old motu DA converters a bit more...less fine highend resolution but heavier lowend...
Now they sound the same as the ones in my multiface..its just that i get a better latencie with motu and run one goldverb more than with the Rme multiface. This is probably by the poor Mac drivers RME set in the world.
The test was done with an apple Powerbook G4 gigaherz.
The interfaces was monitored thru a Neumann desk going to Westlake BBSM 10 montors driven by a good amplefier.
I trust my ears.

> how many reverbs can you pull simultaneusl

because that's how you measure good music nowadays.

Check this one out:

PowerBook G3 500Mhz (Pismo)
MOTU828 Firewire- 192 samples buffer size/
Output latency; 4 ms
Input latency: 5 ms
4 tracks playing
1 reverb on the send track
(first class) 52-53% sound brakes up.
(economy-33-34%) playback kindah OK but everything seems less responsive , like redraw and midi-controled faders latency.
And i can't record anything onto new track while another one is playing -
monytored sound starts stutter ( althoug it doesn't affect the rcording)
increasing buffer size didn't help.

It's not even funny anymore.
