what are the electro pop indie kids dancing to?

Post by Johnisfaster » Mon Nov 20, 2006 7:18 pm

I got asked to dj a dance party at some local kids house on friday, which will be cool cause I've been wanting to try my hand at dj'ing
but what are the electro pop indie kids dancing to these days? like ladytron and the faint type stuff. I need a fatty list of stuff this kind of kid would wanna shake a leg to.

hot chip. ladytron. the faint.... I'm drawing a total blank after that...
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

any idea what song it is by the faint that says "control control control" over and over, it always reminded me of underworlds "everything everything everything" cause of the pattern of the words

anyone? I really dig that song and I can't find it.

These aren't cutting edge or underground (anymore) but 3 great bands in the style you mention:

Fischerspooner
Cut Copy
LCD Soundsystem
And then you could play some Liquid Liquid, ESG, etc. No Wave stuff and that'll give you some real old school cred

I do. Being patriotic.

But dance to... Nae... But then again, I don't dance much. But it's good bicycling music. Makes the 11 kilometers to work just fly by!

since you are from sf, go to club pink on a sunday night and listen to the djs set and you'll get your playlist there.

Uffie (unless there are uptight parents about)
Some of the stuff from that Goldfrapp remix record
Ellen Allien's "Orchestra of Bubbles" (particularly "Way Out")

Or go old school with some OMD, Human League, Heaven 17, Kraftwerk, etc... if it's a decent crowd, there are bound to be some retro hipsters in there.
