Need opposite of MIDIStroke - mouse/keyboard to MIDI?

Post by mbenigni » Wed Nov 22, 2006 2:58 pm

Is there such a thing. My understanding is that MIDIStroke will convert a MIDI event to a sequence of keystrokes, but what I need is something that will convert a QWERTY keyboard or mouse event to a MIDI event.

Specifically what I'd like to do is use the mouse wheel as an endless MIDI rotary encoder. (Tell me that doesn't sound useful!) Does anyone know of a utility that will do this?

Thanks!

Thanks Jeroen, but I should have mentioned, I'm Windows XP. (Also, at first glance I'm not sure this does exactly what I'm looking for?)

Meaning, "MIDIStroke Pro"? If so, I'll hit Google. Thanks.

There's a OSX version of Bome's miditranslator on the way apparently. I can't wait.

ciao mbenigni, Visualjockey GOLD can do it, it's a audiovisuals program, but it's also capable of those king of processing tasks... it can also have multiple virtual mouse wheels sending midi ccs, activables with keyboard keys.

well can´t you just assign your qwertz to different midi clips containing the midi data you want to send ? no solution for the mouse though...

The mousewheel is really the important bit. I need it to ride levels on the fly.

Zappen, I'll look into Visualjockey Gold. Thanks.

Just make your mousewheel send out the keyboard arrows...
Click on a parameter and scroll...
No need for MIDI here.

Expensive ($95) though I guess an option if you really want to use the mouse. (Irony here, I've just been using midistroke to avoid using a mouse in my Live sets).
also, for both, plogue bidule
You sure Bidule does this?

Cool, couldn't find it on their website. Interesting bit of software. I see a lot of people on here are using it but never really saw the need until I started seeing what was possible with even something simple like midistroke.
