CPU light sampler?
Hello
I want to have one sampler per midi channel, which meens multiple instances of it. So it needs to be:
CPU light
Nice looping & moduation options- (responsive to velocity and maybe CC's)
ADSR's - I don't want to "draw" my envelope/s everytime. It's nice as an extra.
Important functions automatable
Can contain only one sample
Fast sample setup and workflow (unlike Kontakt for example...)
I've downloaded the DiscoDSP's HighLife and it's great, expect that you can't automate even the filter through Live.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I don't have Live 6 to use Sampler, but Simpler and Impulse are just bad sounding samplers to my ears...Simpler does'nt have enough modulation options anyway. I need something tweakable like Battery, but without multiple cells, and smaller on the screen

use simpler together with, lives FX, there should be enough to tweak, and it s
all automateable.
Or think of Live as a Sampler by itself. Use audiotracks instead of miditracks -
place your samples as clips in the session view and assign them to keys.
You can even assign them even to keyzones (look in the manual).
You can tweak them with FX and use clipenvelopes.
Just remeber to set their launch-quantize to none (or what you want)
For me it seems as this could be what you want - and - it s cpu-light and no $.
If you want a more elaborated Sampler, it will be not as cpu friendly.
You could look at Dimension Pro and Kontakt is mighty but a beast to use
Hope this Helps

up grade to live six.
the racks feature is great, and you can turn simpler into what ever you need simpler to be.
good luck

I asked similar question 2 years ago here on this board, was adviced Reason- since it is CPU friendly, I use it 90% NNXT for RDK the hypersampled acoustic kits and Rhodes. Meanwhile with version3 it can be used for some other interesting sounds.
I fully understand your lack of interests in Simpler - tried, tested and it is good for nothing in my productions. I am Live fan but I am not fanatic, Simpler is ..... better no comments.
If you dont want rewire then I remember trying one from Steinberg, forgot the name, wasnt bad.

Lo fi is it so that up there is so cold and dark that people can get depressed, drunk or just sit and develop absolutely amazing shit - Clavia, Reason and now that Surge ! I am amazed, it sounds fantastic. Seriously I find certain similrity to something like G2- uncompromised high quality, richness, clarity and definition. Synth design is the best from Sweden after Bergamn.

I wonder if it can beat my favourite workhorse - NI's Photone...
I like the one screen (yet it has it all) and the straightforward GUI.
I don't like going between screens but after seeing the logic behind Shortcircuit, I wonder what kind of a synth these guys can make...
How's the CPU going with this synth?
