This is awesome! I love the way it looks and I'm going to try to make one of my own. Using HID devices to control Ableton not only saves money but the DIY factor makes it that much cooler.

Just a couple quick questions.

What kind of paint/primer did you use? Would it be possible to post the brands or at least the approximate price?

I guess I'm worried that the paint might rub off after repeated use. Was that an issue for you?

Thanks!

SO anything new? Can we dissociata an external azerty keyboard from a laptop's own one in order to use it as a regular midi controler??

hi. after readiing about this subject about using two seperate usb keyboards in windows xp i think i finally found one software solution to using both, i.e one for windows tssks and the other mapped to ableton.

http://www.hidmacros.eu/

this is the video that convinced me that this is what we windows users needed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKq7vjKgcJY

so far i have managed to configure some keys of just one of the keyboards as SHIFT + (letter numbers (macros) then assign them to ableton without any probs so far. the good thing about this soft is that it only stores the macros for individual keyboard hardware id's, i.e a keyboard no.1 or keyboard number 2 and soforth. so if you unglugg it it will not confuse it with a different keyboard, allowing you to have different keyboard setups for different purposases
i.e NUMPAD :D i can just imagine using six NUMPAD keyboards :D
Another great thing is that it detects usb mice !!!! and you can set command to that too! just imagine the posibilities (Possibly mapping to X/Y controlls in ableton? yet to test that part out, purchasing some old cheap trackballs..

thanks to this forum for inspiring me to create "keyboard" midi controllers :D
