Exactly! the Memorymoog for instance, I've had that since I was 18. Bought with the money I was given when we sold my grandmothers house.
Digital Performer was first paid for in 97! Etc.

the p3 looks like the real deal
the constrain to scale function if easy to use would make that piece perfect for me
how do you like it?

yes the p3 is really a good machine, it has many cool features like four auxes where you put events like random notes, velocity, lenght and mask them with knobs. Then i like a lot the accumulator, a sort of lfo that can modulate every midi event.
And of course the force to scale is useful because also when you improvise, each note remains in scale. It's not the best interface to program, i only wish it had a bigger lcd,
maybe a software editor would be the best, but i like it a lot just it is.

I've been trading up gear since the 80's so I've amassed a crapload of stuff. I recently went back to hardware synths as I was getting bogged down with menus on my softsysnths.

Soundcraft Ghost 32
G4 1.4ghz running Logic and Ableton
OLD pc running Creamware Scope loaded with 1st generation Scope and Pulsar cards (20 dsp)
Electron Machinedrum and Monomachine (My new faves)
MPC2000
ASR-10
Phobos Red Square (Nice but crappy filter)
Vermona perFOURmer (Limited routing but a lot of synths for the money)
Kyma system, loaded with 3 cards (Going up for sale soon to finance a large frame modular like Modcan)
FMR audio RNC(2) and RNP
AMR VMP-2 Mic pre (Peavey actually CAN make something great)
Various MXR 900 series stuff
Digi 001
MOTU 896 and 8282 mkII
Dave Smith Evolver
JoMoX XBase09 (Why does everyone like these? My Creamware system more bass)
Studio Electronics SE1-X (Hoo doogie, now there's a nice sounding synth!)
Etc, etc, etc...

I have to agree on the accumulation of gear... it just happens. Dont sell anything. So much becomes useful again and if its just packed safely away its out of mind and you have more gear to play with in the future. Wish i hadnt of sold my Juno6.

I'm actually the opposite, I sell pretty mcuh any gear I'm not using, which is how I got most of my current gear. I used to have a lot more equipment, but with some careful selling on Ebay, I was able to sell the lesser quality stuff for good enough prices to get high end gear. Happened over a period of years, but works for me if you're patient.
