+3 on the name.

Reptile and the Line Begins to Blur. Both of these songs reek of Godflesh influence. Slow, heavy, and mechanical! Lots of room to work with for putting your own twist on.

yes to all the above...

and I would like to add

somewhat damaged - mechanical, charged, hard, energetic...
and
the day the whole world went away- sing along campfire song!

I believe those are tracks 1 and 2 from the Fragile leftside.

I love those two. Hell I love NiN in general, and you could introduce more songs as the band builds a following. These may not be the ones to start out with, but they would definately add some interesting color to the set further down the road. Get a game plan going on when and how you introduce NIN songs to your sets. Man, sounds like fun!!!

Pretty Hate Machine would def be a good name, easily identifiable and it sounds cool.

For tunes, Suck was always one of my favorites as well. But since he really hasn't penned a bad song, it probably doesn't matter which ones you do! :)

you all rock

we are leaning now beween two band names ( but still suggest others)
BURN and "Pretty hate Machine"

the set list so far is

Ring finger
THis is the only TIme
Head like a Hole
With Teeth
Hurt
suck
*****
adding at a later date
CLOSER
wish
march of the pigs

~ I am also looking at this objectivley as there is alot of work to do for just 2 people. I would rather have 7 easy songs that peole like than 1 great song that we are ok at.~

It has been difficult to maintain that balance of trying to make it our own and not butchering what alot of people consider a master.

If you had to take effort time and resources into the equasion would it change your choices? 8)

You MUST include Closer in your initial list, that will be the crowd blow-up song. Also, slightly obscure but one of his best is the track he did for the Natural Born Killers sndtrk which I can't recall the title of. But it is a pretty simple tune with a great dynamic build.

FYI, there's already a NIN cover band called Pretty Hate Machine, so try something else.
