What motivates you to create music?

Discuss music production with Ableton Live.

What motivates you to create music?

Strictly, my own ideas and musical innovation. I compose all original material and I refuse to compromise my creative expression for the acceptance of others.

Some original ideas, but more out of a need to appeal to the tastes of others, because that makes me feel good.

Lots and lots of pussy.

(...The sad part is that now that I'm getting it regularly, I actually write less music. Go figure.)

caffeine. herb. girls. serving humanity. glory and attention. money. the great mystery.

not necessarily in that order.

and the fact that I (and most of us) are just plain compelled to, beyond all reason. and of course because of my love of harmony, melody and rhythm (my direct link to the great mystery)

Couldn't have said it better myself... screw other people! If I was all alone in the universe I'd still be making music, and trying to make sense of it all.

I think that strange connection we make while playing music is the best thing at keeping me in balance. Still doesn't work, but it's getting there ;)

I voted for the dying poodle, because even though it was meant as a joke; to me, music is a way I can non verbally hold a mirror up to the world around me, and my inner life as well.
.....and oddly enough I realize I have to interpret that in a way that people can relate to, otherwise it can get too personal and masturbatory.
