one of the best session musicians on earth is gone
possibly the most recorded tenor....

Remember people writing me about his rare disease, trying to find somebody for the transplant ( marrow I think), I am sure everybody was trying their best but we coudnt help obviously.
not only great musician but nice person too, and of thousands of tenors what a disticnt, instantly recognisable tone.

damn! i had no idea.
IMO the most original voice on tenor since Coltrane.

Sad news. One of the best live shows I've ever seen. You know, when it's about music not the lights or screens.

and i must add RIP Alice Coltrane
she passed away on the same day as michael brecker... a sad day for jazz indeed.
funny to imagine all those guys now jamming in heaven....

And I must add Dewey Redman (Joshua's father), gone September 2, sad coincidence, Mike Brecker and him were the two sax players on Pat Metheny's "80/81" CD and tour.
