So far I've been fine without a mixer and it was only when I wanted a Kaoss Pad 3 that I suddenly needed a mixer/multi out sound card.

For those, like me who cannot afford the zero 8 or could do with less I found this PHONIC HELIX BOARD 12 FIREWIRE MKII audio interface and mixer which looks pretty cool and it is really inexpensive.

The NRV10 is review in this months sound on sound BTW. Got good marks, a lot different than the Zero8 though as you say.
