who creates art in areas other than music?

I just finished my BA in Studio Arts and I am getting pretty serious about installation, painting, and then trying to do more sculpture. I just started getting serious about learning max/msp/Jitter, and I have been building a foundation in Lightwave as well.

i just finished my first semester doing a ba in sonic art and i am liking it lots. we've been doing some installation stuff and we get to be taught about max msp in the 2nd year. so i am well looking forward to it.

i love painting and doing collages too but i find it way different to making tunes. i havent done a painting for about a year or so now as ive been doing music for most of my spare time instead.
personally i find that the buzz i get from making a tune is fairly constant from the initial idea through to the finished piece but with painting i get the buzz mainly when the piece is finished, though there is definately something really nice about sitting down with a brush and some paints sometimes instead of shedloads of computers and instruments

also : how do you do that 'so and so wrote' thing?

I'm an oil painter(old school).

Painting goes hand in hand with the music.

I've done album covers for Melodic(Compilation:Psapp,Pedro,Baikonour..), Earwom(The Earlies) and Guided By Voices(Tobin Sprout).

that's the thing. they succeeded for 7 odd years, until I got get a really bad aussie summer, and 3 of them turn up their toes. i've managed to keep one alive for the 12 years i've been looking after it, got another 3 seedlings (3-5 years), which are starting to take nice form now.

Thanks Machinate, I truly appreciate that. Vinyl Toys are fun but an expensive hobby! I can't believe the money some of the people spend on their Vinyl Toys (not that I'm complaining since my toy is about sold out now!)

My interests are may and varied, I do graphic design for a living. Working now for a T-Shirt company. We do T-Shirts, embroidery and promotional products. Most of the stuff I do there is boring, and often times I have to sacrifice creativity due to severe time constraints, and there is also a lot of boring "technical" work, color seps and prep for screen printing, logo recreation etc. - but I do get the occasional interesting project. Working on a hot-rod t-shirt at the moment.

I'm fascinated by screen printing and plan on buying my own press, probably a little four color manual, to do my own posters and shirts at home.

I also do poster and flyer design for a local community based non-profit arts advocacy group. I've been working with them for three years now and have much more creative freedom with my projects.

I also like drawing, video, motion graphics and am getting ready to start a 3D illustration class next week.

i like his stuff a lot, i dont know why. but often i just look at his stuff and i am awed by it
