Help. WAV to MP3

Post by dreamlandscheme » Wed Jan 24, 2007 9:47 pm

Hey guys,

I got a quick question. I am on a Mac, and I want to convert my Ableton exported Wavs to Mp3. I had been using Itunes, but this hasn't served me all that well. So do you guys know of any nice programs that would let me do this so that I retain most of my the quality? Thanks in advance

What you've said about iTunes surprises me. 128 is, admittedly, crap sounding (with any encoder that I've tried) but you've tried some of the higher fixed and variable bit rates?

The program CDEX with the latest LAME encoder.
All free, easy to find.

Stay away from iTunes.

Any host as long as you are using LAME.

"So what kind of music do you make?"
"Both kinds...... drum and bass."

a lil program called soundtaxi does the job for about $18

you can convert mp3's from 68 to 320, which is nice

thank you, appreciate the help guys. I'll try Itunes at a higher bitrate and then also the LAME encoder. Appreciate it.

CD-EX gets my vote for free (windows only though)

CD-Tag is a great shareware ripper that can rip mp3, ogg vorbis, FLAC, wavpack etc. but costs a little cash to maintain it past 30 days
