It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

I'm sure it sounds awesome, I guess I'm just shocked that someone would deface a machine like that. I've never seen it before so it's kinda like seeing a really really old car thats had it's top chopped and hydrolics installed or something.

easy tiger its not that bad. you get the best of both worlds. the sound plus the functions a lot of users can only get in software.
whats the difference in that and midi moding an other classic synth?

Except that the 303 isn't really a classic car. It's a cheap plastic and aluminum box from the 1980s. And it's Roland!
Sure, the thing sounds fantastic - those nice envelopes and that squeaky 3-pole filter, but it's not like defacing once-of-a-kind art. There's thousands of those things out there, some pristine, some junked. If the designer knew they'd be adopted by the electronic crowd years later, he might have added those mods himself.
After all, it was supposed to provide bass guitar loops to jam along with.
I'd rather have a Future Retro Revolution anytime.

I monitor through a clock radio.
Dude, the Devilfish mod is awesome, still debating getting mine done. Just makes it better. Some of the custom aluminum cases are really cool too.

If anyone is going to seriously mod a TB303 and take the best care, its Robin Whittle. The Devil Fish is a classic mod on a classic instrument.
I'm sometimes asked to do a copy of this mod, but I always say 'send it to Robin'.
Having said that, I will do smaller mods on 303s, but I tend to do my stuff inside and leave the hole cutting to someone else.
