Hey guys!

Tomorrow I leave for Berlin to play in the Information Wants To Be Free festival (www.iwtbf.org)!! My wife and I are hauling two laptops as carry-on and we wondered if it was okay to send them through the airport xray machines. Will that be okay for the laptops or will this do evil things to them?

many thanks!!!!!
scotty

p.s. sorry for the off-topic post! although it's marginally on-topic if some of you come see my set (on sunday night) as Live will be my main instrument.
p.p.s. detritus if you see this... good luck with your set! I'll introduce myself afterwards...

In general, no, modern airport xray machines will not damage laptop data or components.

Keep your laptop in hand and turned on. That will help get you through security a litle faster. If you have an Apple, you can just close the lid to put it to sleep.

Cheers,
Alex
