VOTE NOW! (Challenge Contest No. 1)

Post by jasinski » Mon Feb 19, 2007 5:43 am

The Live Challenge Contest No. 1 has ended. Thanks to everyone who submitted an entry.

The challenge was to make a music track using only This.

What we got was an incredible variety of results. It's amazing what you all could do with so little source material (kind of makes you wonder why we need gigs of samples and expensive synths) :)

Please listen to the entries and vote for the one you think has used the original sample in the most creative way.

A. Adhmzaiusz's: Bloodeye(first track on the page)

B. Shoma's: Discovery

C. Spiral's: This is not London

D. Joelb's:Geek Love

E. Telekom's: http://minorcrisis.net/files/Channel[2].mp3 Channel

F. Albertors's:Parallel Curvature

G. Jasinski's: Mini the Saw

H. Mike@trackteamaudio: Sawtooth

Personally I really liked all the tracks! Very great creativity here. Hats off.

By the way, i called my track "Discovery" because I discovered the sounds I like. Its funny, the more minimal you get, the better you can define what is good and what's not.

I gave every track a listen. Still not sure...

Right off the bat I was thinking Discovery, but Bloodeye is a close second. Depends what kind of mood you're in.

Okay. I'm going to cast my vote and go to sleep.

Shoma - Discovery. Nice lush sounding piece. I enjoyed some of the others very much too, but Discovery sounded best to my ears.

Well, it looks like shoma and albertors are neck and neck. Alls the songs are really good and it's so hard to decide what to vote for. Im gonna toss my vote in for Spiral's song. oddly enough, it Reminds me of the old "moog music" of the 70's... good work all

I am blown away by all the entries and wish I would have had some time to dedicate to this (not that I would have come close to any of these submissions) but what a great idea and exercise.

I just wanted to post my opinion...the top three that stood out for me were

Bloodeye
Channel
Discovery

I voted Bloodeye #1 because of the rich deep textured sounds and the good beat that picks up

Channel was close but just missed because I kept waiting for a beat to kick in and it never happened...but the sounds were brilliant

Discovery was the same...kept waiting for something to happen and it never did but the sounds that were there were awesome.

Applause to everybody though...like I said, I am blown away by all of them.

Great stuff! I had to go with G, I dug the beat & the wacked-out timing of some of the parts 8) but they were all really cool.

Mini the saw by Jasinski... It's how chilled out funk would sound if it were in the movie Bladerunner.
