Recording dj-sets

Hello,
what is the best way to record dj sets??
every time i try to record in ableton just by pushing 'record' button i got recorded but without crossfading and mixing ..it just come up like whole songs ....
from recording softwares i only have 'Audacity' ..can i use this and how??/
i have M-audio fast track + live6

xfader automation is in the master lane in the arrangement page

You're question is very broad and generic.

What do you mean?

Are you using live to play songs or are you using cds/records?

If you are just pressing record and are using cds/records then Live is just a tape recorder basically and is only recording what it is hearing.

If you are using Live throughout then it is recording your every move so you should see that reflected in your recording.
