pitchbend wheel on Oxygen 8

Post by joeyfivecents » Wed Mar 07, 2007 5:49 pm

for some reason when I play midi notes into Live my pitchbend wheel doesn't effect the notes. Is there something special I have to do in Live to use this simple function?

Perhaps you need to set pitch bend range on whatever instrument your using!

if yours is like mine, i opened it up and disconnected the pitch wheel because it wouldnt zero....making assigning the other controllers hard.

strange. It just works in every other program(FL Studio, Logic, Pro Tools, Tracktion). Usually it just bends the pitch of whatever instrument I'm using. Do I have to put a midi pitch plugin in front of my instruments?

this is a simple thing with every other program. Can someone tell me why this isn't working. It's not like I'm a newbie asking a dumbass question. All I need to know is do other peoples' pitchbend wheels on their midi controllers work or is there something special I need to do with Live as opposed to every other DAW out there?

I think Mr Man already answered your question.

What are you trying to pitch bend? An audio clip? A VSTi? Simpler/Sampler?

For the latter two, make sure that the patch actually responds to pitch bend.

No need for any special plugin.

You should be able to tell if Live is receiving Pitch Bend, though: does an armed track get red data when you move the wheel? Does it show up when you record your wheel moving to a MIDI track? If not: your controller is broken perhaps. If yes, then your sound just doesn't respond to pitch bend (the pitch bend range is set to +/- 0 cents)
