Ableton updates too quickly, too costly and too little. 6 is just 5 with a few patched features and a load of shitty built in gear that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. The EQs, compressor and reverb in Live are so poor that even the free VST equivalent is considerably better.
However, I do love Live and for composition, nothing is better :-D Oh, and lets not forget Djing.
Too true.

slow down.

- eq8 is definitely not poor, i´ts really a nice one
- eq3 is ugly when plugged in default, but usable for some rough (pre-)handling nevertheless
- comp 2 is not the best in the world, maybe to digital for a classic sound: but if you know how and when to use it, you get on the brighter side

same with reverb which just isn´t designed for analog sounds and voices, but for getting digital TRASHYNESS as TRASHYNESS can be.

expanding horizon may help for creative usage of everything.

how long does it take for your wallet to recover from 120 bucks?
120, on top of the 500 for 5 and already seeing another 120 for 7. Next time I'll ask you for a loan of the cash ;-)
I was assuming you were already a 5 owner for some time before you upgraded to 6, my mistake.

you should have got the 5 academic version for 250 like me from academic superstore. :)
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

actually I heard you could upgrade from a cracked version of 6 to a cracked version of 7 by taking it in the ass with a smile on.

I know it's not strictly a farmyard animal in the west, but do you know if they plan to include an alpaca?

"7 gigs of velocity sampled farmyard animals, including sheep cattle and 6 breeds of pig. "

At Last they are taking my suggestion seriously!!!!!

My latest compositions have been screaming out for multi-layered cow and pig grunts. woohoo All I need now is a synth that simulates the rythmic elements of a dog scratching its nuts and my life is complete :-)

Right, im off to sample the sound of goldfish sucking at the side of the tank.

  1. a box design which will be the cause of geeky hillarity due to slightly weak use of clipart
  2. a bald head wig and comedy 'hunch' for that 'laptop look'
  3. new "pro edition", ships with less samples than the 'lamer' edition
  4. in L7 you now can't open the app until you answer a random question on the manuals contents
  5. New 'Complainor' device, does nothing but form the focus for all irrational complaints
  6. virtual "Analogue summing" device for that analogue sound.
  7. "Selector", selects the best dance tracks for any situation and then plays them, totally eliminating any need for DJs
