the axiom is ok.
One of my sliders broke on the way home from the store.
Just a cheap build quality.
Akai pads are better that m-audio pads. no question.

I agree about Akai is roughly in the same category as Alesis... Some outstanding stuff (MPCs, Andromeda A6), but mostly amateur grade stuff.Rogue Scrunt wrote:
akai/alesis/numark = middle of the road these days.
not high end like akai pro used to be.
Numark on the other hand... I don't thnk that Numark even holds a candle to the other two. Numark makes shit, sub-par even compared to M-Audio. I can't stress enough how shitty Numark is in everything they produce.

akai needs to stop puttin out so many midi controllers, and update the OS's to their so called "flagship" the MPC. (at least the newer ones, if we wanna act like an mpc 3000 is obsolete-for all the wack producers at least)
akai has horrible customer support, and just puttin out more products, that theyre gonna replace with some newer "upgrade" to it.
theyre pissin me off.

I have an M-audio Axiom 25 and it is ok, certainly not worse than any other Korg, Edirol or other plastic midi keyboard.
Numark makes good stuff too...i have got 2 TTX Turntables and they are really good...the fact is that, in terms of building quality (not sound) everything today is worse than 1 years ago....before there was metal, now there is plastic...
I have got an Alesis Micron, and it is the best synth you can buy for 300-400 euros....
my 2 cents and a quarter and a cigarette butt....

I think he lumped them altogether because they are all owned by 'numark'...numark dragged them down quality-wise, but probably saved Alesis & Akai Pro from disappearing altogether - so we can thank them for that I suppose.M. Wow. I didn't know they had acquired Akai as well. I guess you learn something every day.husker wrote:I think he lumped them altogether because they are all owned by 'numark'...numark dragged them down quality-wise, but probably saved Alesis & Akai Pro from disappearing altogether - so we can thank them for that I suppose.M. I've owned a PPD-9000 (sucked, I could hear the digital stepping on both the filters and the crossfader's volume, and I had a pair of inputs die within two months) and two TTX-1s. The TTX's drive system is pretty solid, but the carriage of the tonearm is loose and wobbly on each one (and came from the store, sealed in boxes loose and wobbly. I returned them to the store for exchange and got two new ones exactly the same; it's just designed that way they said).
