Tim- Any latency issues with that? My lappie is all full up and I'd like to go the hub route just to tidy up a bit, any opinions on limitations of a hub?

For $30 I might as well try one. Any opinions on what NOT to get?

7-port D-Link been working great here for over a year.

I would recommend using an external power supply if you're plugging anything that draws a fair amount of current through it.

I just got a 7 port powered one that works like a treat can't remember the brand, some generic one. The only issues I have heard about are not the hubs themselves, but the cables that come with it. If the hub starts playing up, swap the cable first... as for latency, there is zilch... and I've got 3 midi controllers/mouse/keyboard and a usb2 hard drive plugged into it.

Edit: always plug the hub into the same usb port if yer on a pc or you'll always be asked to install the device drivers

I unpluged the power supply and it works fine.
