the new all good funk alliance album is great.
think i played 3/4 of it during my last set - couldn´t resist...

if you check out the malente remix album "rip it up"
you will find a lot of remixers that produce good own
tracks too.

what you need is American funk/soul band LETTUCE. They're awesome....the best modern funk band around. You can get a taste of them on myspace:

Once you get hooked on that, you'll immediately want to go to iTunes and purchase Live In Tokyo. Believe me, you want this!

Some of the members of that band are in Soulive, which is damn good too, but not exactly in the Bernie Worrell/Funkadelic vein...

If you're looking on the more esoteric end of groove music, be sure to check out Steve Coleman (www.m-base.com), who is a master of odd-meter grooves. He also offers most of his work for free on the website!

hey,
read the post and checked on the posted samples of music. Thanxx lots of nice stuff there.

when you mention DISCO and FUNK one name comes to mind:

JOHNNY Guitar WATSON ...I bring this up, because that guy used some pretty advanced stuff for the time - synths and effects
very nice integrated in some tunes..just immagine the guy using
Ableton Live and put his juice to it

Y'know Prins Thomas and Lindstrom, Todd Terje, Maurice Fulton, Bear Funk label, Tirk label some of that kinda vibe? (look on juno.co.uk for some clips and see what you think).

Personally some of that stuff just doesn't compare with original disco (which for those of you who aren't familiar couldn't be further from the Saturday Night Fever vibe that is a attached to it. Some of the maddest, grooviest electronic sounds can be found in disco).

add to that dj Harvey, Idjut Boys (for a more dubby sound) and moxie records. There's a whole re edit madness right now, too much stuff, some of which is not that great but what robin mentions is top notch in that kind of sound.

Ok, bit late to the topic, but can't sleep on the Dutch superfunkateer Bas Bron aka Fatimah Yamaha aka Comtron aka Bastian aka Belmer aka the producer to the Jeugd van Tegenwoordig and Donnie.

Anything he does is soooooo funky.

Also, Dam Funk and Maurice Fulton (especially his Syclops alias) always do the trick
