[OT] Unemployed no more....

Post by jb61264 » Tue Apr 17, 2007 9:02 pm

After three agonizing months of unemployment, I was offered a position today...I am so freaking happy I might just go out and buy a new piece of gear for my setup :)

Congrats man.

I left position I hated a few years back. I was unemployed for about 3 months as well. I really started freaking out. Right around that time (actually a little bit before) my girlfriend and I split, her choice. I almost considered attempting to go back to the old job. Then one day I received an email for an interview for the position I wanted all along. I interviewed twice for it and got the job.

Since that time, I have been promoted into my current position in the marketing department. I love my job. It was worth the wait for sure. I also met another girl who I am currently with right before I was hired. (yes, I met a great girl while unemployed!) Those agonizing three months spent selling off gear and records sucked but the payoff was worth it.

Anyone who has been unemployed for a significant stretch knows how bad it sucks. How many of you also lost your girl during that stetch, too? Oh yeah, it was also right at the beginning of winter, in Cleveland...

I think I understand the meaning of "that which does not kill us only makes us stronger" now...it was a really tough 3 months after being let go for completely unjustifiable reasons (I had just received an annual review that was "above average" in terms of meeting their expectations) and was solely the act of one spiteful beotch who screwed her way into a position and wanted to clean house and hire her "own" people.

I'm right there with ya on the girlfriend thing too...hopefully a new job at the university will provide a number of 'opportunities' :)

The new job hits on all cylinders of my background and has HUGE upside...basically a biotech startup affliated with the university and they do 15-20 mil/year with 0$ marketing budget (all word of mouth and referral)...they are already growing exponentially so I'm excited about the future...not to mention I can get a masters for free if I want!

congrats on the job!

I might be able to top you all. In a 1 month period I lost my job, my apartment, my girlfriend, and got my one and only DUI. I throw a pity party like no other.

I'm working now and the bulk of my money is being thrown at music related activities, and I'm in no rush to start a new failed relationship.

I was looking for a job, then I found a job
And heaven knows I'm miserable now
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

I'm currently unemployed and have been for two months. I'm finding myself alot less stressed and I feel like I'm refreshing myself.

Maybe one more month couldn't hurt

I was unemployed for one entire year. it has partly been my choice, so I wasn't feeling bad at all, anyway I'm happy to have again a 9 to 5 job so I can buy some pro stuff for my studio, but in december I'm leaving the working market again and focus on music, can't wait to be unemployed again.
