MIDI Filter in Ableton to unfilter CC123 (all notes off) ?

Post by Peter Cherry » Wed Apr 18, 2007 7:05 am

Hi,

is there any input MIDI filter in Ableton or a plugin for that ?

I need to unfilter controller 123 from my Roland Alpha Juno 2 midi keyboard, because with CC 123 I have problems with release parameter on Ableton Sampler. This controller causes, that the release duration is ignored and the sound is cut directly after key off (same issue with others VST samplers).

I think there is a note length plugin? Perhaps that will help?

I don´t think so. Note Length plugin sets defined length to incoming midi notes. But I need to unfilter cc123 (all notes off) which transmits old midi keyboards when any key is released. And this is the problem, by transmitting all notes off parameter, set Release is ignored:(

Use bidule blogue. The demo version is fully working and you can save... you just have a two months expiration and nag screen if you aren't registered.

input (your midi device) -> cc filter -> bidule out 1

turn off the original midi device in ableton and use bidule out as midi input in ableton.

Use an internal midi cable like midi yoke to manage the midi connection from one app to another.

But if you remove note off messages, won't you have a problem with sustained instruments ?

Yeah, I know about virtual midi cables etc. I tried Bome's Midi Translator and it worked good. But it is external application. I would like to use something inside the Ableton.

CC123 is not about concrete Note Off exactly, it is about ALL Notes OFF and it is sent by older keyboards (normal basic Note Offs remain).

No, not really, most of people with that kind of needs around use software like plogue bidule, max, pure data to achieve this.

Using internal midi port, it's easy as hell and it increases your control over ableton a lot using midi ( over every apps using midi in your computers in fact)

I recommend you the excellent plogue Bidule, easy to understand, nearly free with a good community surrounding it.

best
