Running OS X on PC
Word. There is a rumor Apple's stock is about to take a dive. I think releasing a PC version of Leopard (a radical business move for Apple) would insight such a freight from investors.forge wrote:I just tried the OSX86 on my intel new laptop and I am coming round to thinking Apple will do a port
I base this on the huge buzz going on out there with people using the hack - it's pretty damn popular
at the end of the day people will want it and I just think they will ultimately do it because they'd be mad to miss out on the dollars
I (and several million other PCers) would love to run OSX on a home brewed machine. With the internet, open source communities, and curious geeks like us- I imagine a list of "tried and true" compatible hardware would be refined enough to be a reliable guide for building a PC to run OSX as well as a Mac Pro. It's all about finding compatible guts.

releasing a standard PC version would kill development of OSX - as it would be the same **** as Windows. Microsoft has ways more developers and still can hardly handle all the stuff that is offered for standard PCs.
It might be that Apple licenses OSX to some manufacturers that produce specified clones, but I doubt (and hope) that they will release it as an alternative to windows/linux.
And why should they release OSX for standard PCs? They selling more computers currently than ever before. That means they make money with selling their computers.

Why should Apple be able to have Bootcamp and PC users not be able to have OSX?
All is fair in love and war. Mac users get the benefits from running Bootcamp, PC Users should equally be allowed to get the benefits from OSX.
