Here's my custom Live skin, nothing fancy...

Post by R.J.Dubya » Sat May 12, 2007 1:48 am

I'm not a huge fan of the included skins, so I just made some slight alterations, and I'm liking this one. I find the aesthetics of the UI matter quite a bit when doing creative things.

Anyways, this is some subtle changes to the color scheme I like best. I think where too many provided skins fail to not suck is in that they're often just too over the top. Hope you like, this, I use it always now.

edit: made a slight change for better contrast.

This is the most usable, kind-to-the-eyes skin I've seen. Thank you.

Thanks, glad you guys like it.

I was going to make a bunch of skins, but I've just been satisfied with this and haven't really wanted to change it. Makes me happy every time I open Live. Maybe some time I'll make more, but not if I don't get sick of this one.

That King Tut skin is hilarious. I could definitely see someone rockin' that in a cave somewhere.

cheers,

I would love to check this out but for whatever reason I could never figure out how to apply these third party skins or where to even put the file. If anybody could help that would be great. I'm on a Macbook Pro.

just search your system for .ask files. You'll see the path easily.

I don't think this skin is usable in low light situations. On my machine any black button is very hard to see on the dark blue.

I did a spotlight search (again, I tried it a while back) and it doesn't find any .ask files. I've even tried typing in some of the skin names that come with Ableton and it doesn't find those either.

Go to ableton in your applications folder, right-click on the Live icon, hit 'show package contents', open app-resources, stick the .ask file into the skins folder there.
