Extra beats

Post by madtho » Sun May 13, 2007 11:22 pm

Hi.

I've been having a ton of trouble recording a song and finally figured out why.

The song is 4/4, but a couple measures have 5 beats. There's no way around it.

Can I add a beat to a measure? I know I can scoot everything down a beat, but I'd like to keep the 1's on the 1.
OR
Can i change the time sig for 1 measure?

thanks a bunch.

Unfortunately, time signature changes are not possible at this time, but we here believe they are not so far away. View this thread to see the demand: Time Signature Changes

huh. I searched the bejeezuz out of part A of my question and tacked on part B as an afterthought. Guess i should have thought about it more.

So I'd be interested in hearing what folks do to get around little problems like this. Currently I'm working in Arr view, sliced up everything at the offending measure and slid it over a beat. So the song begins on beat 3 and gets lined up after the 5 beat measure.

The only other way I can think of is to change the tempo of the arrangement during that 5 beat measure. Things would not line up to the grid during that measure, but everything else would
