best filesync software

Post by queglay » Wed May 16, 2007 12:09 pm

hey guys. just wanted to ask what you think is the best filesync software.
I run 2 raid 5 arrays and external drives for backup, and my trusty old filesync app cant deal with files over 2gb, so i need something new.

it should show file comparisions for seperate locations and have the ability to change copy directions.

thanks for any recomendations!

its not bad. i like the way it breaks down the different file categories. but one thing i stuggle with a bit is it doesn't say how much space it will require after the sync so i dont know if im going to fill my target volumes.

their scroll windows are a bit annoying too because theres no scroll bar for each break down. you have to use click buttons to scroll through thousands of files.

i'd strongle recommend beyondcompare, it does an excellent job of syncing, mirroring, folder comparison, etc. you can also automate syncs/backups using scripts.

unfortunately is windows-only and i haven't found anything comparable for osx. i've been trying lacie silverkeeper, but that seems to give up on large files. can anyone recommend an osx file sync utility?

try SyncBack SE....great program and great support in their forum. Has tons of features you would probably be interested in and it's actively being updated.

If you go for the full blown version (you can try the FREE version out first) - it only costs $30.00 with lifetime free upgrades. Not a bad deal for a very handy proggie esp when you talk about backing up....it's been a GODSEND for me.

i'm very happy with this.

though, my opinion is that you make better the preview ( in sync toy ) before you push "run" to sync the data....but it works :-)
