Crippled automation...what gives?

I'm not trying to start a "DAW vs. DAW" war here, but what's the deal with Live's limited automation? I just got to messing with Logic's automation, and I'm able to automate EVERY single parameter within FM8 inside Logic...why is live limited to 128 parameters? I dont know what the motive's are behind this, but for the price, they could at least impliment full plugin automation.
