help creating loops

i am having trouble making loops. i am trying to make a loop from a track on cd.

i dragged the entire track into the arrangement view.
i clicked on it to get it in the clip view.
i moved the markers in the clip view to where i want the loop to start and end (a sample beat from a track).
i clicked on the loop icon.

now - it loops according to the box at the top (arrangement?) but not the bottom.

what am i doing wrong?
what do i do once i have got the loop how i want it so it can be saved and i can drag it into session view for another track?
