They're my favourites at the moment. I saw them three weeks ago in Mannheim (germany) in a small club, and it was a very nice concert. Awesome voices and this unique lo-fi, electric toy touch has gone wonderful together.
They had also a beatboxer on the stage (one of the locals i think) who has done the intro and some decent beats during the concert. They're two sisters, of which one is an educated singer, but the outstanding voice is the other one for me. I really love their music and would recommend to see them if you have an ear for this (like it seems).
After the concert i had a smoke with the synthesist (or however you name a keyboarder behind a synthesizer), which was a very nice guy. Great night fo shure.

They sound like they're trying to do Joanna Newsom channeling Bjork.

just did a festival with them in switzerland.
interesting stuff, yet kind of like fingernails on a chalkboard to my ear...
more concept than content, but who knows where they'll take it...
i've done two shows with them, seen them once...
every show was radically different, which i really appreciate.

Weird...

I just renewed my emusic subscription and was browsing the other night. Trying to find some melodic, vocal electronica. Well I found out that I should be looking under trip-hop...?!?! What the fuck? That's where I found Coco Rosie. It is a nice album (La Maison de mon Reve), but it sure as hell doesn't sound like the trip-hop I was born and raised with.

By the way - I thought trip-hop died in 1997 anyways. I feel sorry for the sucker at emusic having to cram every album/artist into one of their genre labels.

I'm kinda torn between thinking they're absolute shite and absolute genius.

I think the live stuff on youtube is f*ing genious, but I downloaded all 3 of their albums after that and they aren't even listenable. freaking toy animal sounds everywhere and some of the worst recordings known to man.

blech.

but a couple of live youtube vids kick ass.

The fact that they're using that ONE sample toy with the rooster throughout is kinda cheap. But I really like the singing and the melodies.
