can a tablket pc be used to control ableton?

Can a tablet pc be used to control ableton? For instance can I pull the faders down with my fingers? Or input midi notes with the stylus? If not how come? It just seems like a logical controller. I like the Lemur but I don't have three grand to drop and I'm sick of using hardware controllers that have to be constantly remapped to make various tweaks.

Apparrently Live 6 does not support a touch screen as it causes wierd things to happen like values jumping all over the place. Maybe live 7?
