I have two soundcards for my laptop, the fw410 and the echo indigo i/o
Is there a performance benefit to using one or the other?
Lets say that both were identically spec'd is the firewire bus faster than the pci bus.
I have a dell inspiron 8600 btw, but i am curious about this generally, not just on my system.

Re: PCI vs firewire question
PCMCIA's through put is MUCH faster than Firewire, but that doesn't mean an automatic performance difference as far as what you hear.mathew wrote:I have two soundcards for my laptop, the fw410 and the echo indigo i/o

Edit: Oops!! same reasoning as above (read a little too quick) Slots or whatever types of connections are not where audible performance is truly effected. It's the conversion process. They electronics in each card. As fas as how fast they transfer and act as a conduit for midi info, I don't think that really matters.
Thanks for the tip. Anybody else?
What about performance between a FW-410 and a Echo Indigo I/O
