Keystoke to MIDI in OSX?

Post by prebentious » Fri Jul 27, 2007 9:57 pm

Hey guys,
Does anyone know of a program that converts keystroke combinations to MIDI commands in OSX?
Sort of like Midistroke in reverse.

Thanks all!

I'm pretty sure you can do this with junxion.

I'm working on a program that will do this, but it's still got a couple of months left.

It would be ridiculously easy to make something like this with Max. I think there might even be something like this in the Tutorials, If you downloaded the demo and spent a little time you can make a custom patch for this...

control aid will do it with a limited number of keystrokes I believe.

I use a program called Ableton Live!

Key map a MIDI clip, it fires a note. Done.

oh yeah, I forgot about that... but if I remember correctly it only works when controlAid is the focused application. And I can't remember whether or not the normal key object in Max works the same way... does it register the keystrokes in Max if the max patch is not focused?

Hambone's suggestion is good... just use the IAC to route any messages you trigger back into Live if you want to use them for control signals rather than notes etc.

And my AV performance just wouldn't be the same without midiStroke! :D
