OT New Music Community

Post by lowmax » Wed Sep 05, 2007 6:57 am

I'm starting a new online community for musicians called Skatic. It is nearing completion, and hopefully will be out in the wild sometime in November '07.

After much disappointment with most of what the net had to offer for promoting and connecting musicians, i decided to stop filling up the suggestion forms and do a whole new site dedicated for that purpose. It is a social networking site, and there is nothing new about this concept, but I stayed up days and nights trying to work out on improving current concepts and introducing new features that will benefit us artists.

And now I need all the help I can get.

The beta version will be ready by mid to end of this month (September '07) and I need some artists to register and give the site a test run.

I'm not posting this anywhere else for now, the Beta version will only take a limited number for now, so I decided that priority should go first to Live users like myself, or at least to the people that happen to read this forum. Some dictating from my side....

Anyways the site is at skatic.com. I really appreciate your help.:)

Thanks guys,

Content is king. Don't just be something that starts off brightly and then goes away after a couple months - there are so many of those.

I assure you that I will do my best to avoid this.

Ok here are just a couple of the many features already integrated into the site, tell me what you think about them:

Integrated CC (creative commons) License selector integrated with the music upload page

Audio Fingerprinting, not only because of the naughty people  , your uploaded music will be analyzed and it's meta data added to the database, if you want to do that of-course. This way your music will be discovered through other mediums, out side the site, in the future.
