Post by dan.moggs@gmail.com » Thu Oct 04, 2007 12:24 pm

Im investing in a new PC...

I have Ableton Live 6.02:

Is this compatible with Vista? (I currently run it on XP)

Is this compatible with Quad Core Processors?

Many thanks

Start with updating to Live 6.0.10
It contains bugfixes for vista.

I'm getting the updates but my music comp is currently offline...

What sort of implications will I face? will it work at all?

Also...

Is Ableton multi core compatible?

Many thanks

check the forum...the general consensus is that it does work, but it's slightly less efficient than running Live on XP...and some vst plugs may not work.

I'm curious if Vista SP1 has changed anything.

Yes it will work, should be OK for just starting up and getting a feel for it, but there are some 'odd' behaviors. So, you should upgrade to the Vista-specific bugfix as soon as you can-- it will fit on a USB memory stick, try to get to somewhere online and download like that.

For the release on disk, if you have any issues, try starting it in 'XP mode', refer to Vista doc/help for that.

It's a difficult question and will vary from set to set... but generally, for most people, there'll be a significant improvement from 1->4 cores.
