Are you skipping 6? Running 5.2 moving to 7? Why?

Adonis, I forgot to add REX and sidechaining in the poll .... if I remember correctly, those were two of your requested features.

Are there any beta testers running Live 7 on a G4 Powerbook? More or less CPU usage than ver. 5?

Gonna break the piggy bank this time yes.
Going from 5 to 7 is really worth it, imo. Besides all the new things, finally getting my hands on the racks from 6 is great - altough i played with them with the lite version from my soundcard.
Still, i think it's a crime there's still no track grouping - my number 1 wish!
And i was expecting something more... cycling74?!

Midi improvements were the thing that pushed me over the edge. (would have been nice as a 6.5 update but oh well)

After that it's time sig change, slicer, sidechaining, automation enhancement, and drum racks.

Last is dual processor support, although I would have considered running 5 a bit longer on an intel machine if it weren't for the stuff I listed above.

I just upgraded because I think the improvements from 5 to 7 are worth it. Although I am now working with racks in 6 and I must say - DAYUM!

I didn't vote.

Multicore support.

Post by Urbem » Mon Oct 08, 2007 12:29 pm

If Live 5 had multicore support, i would not upgrade to Live 7. I will try eventually Live 7 Demo since the Betas are for Live 6 users only. I guess Live 5 users are not real hardcore fans! ? !

Have I missed something or have Ableton not released details of the price for upgrading Live 5 to Live 7?

Much less. Initially I took my time upgrading from 5 to 6 but there was actually a big improvement in cpu usage and I regretted taking so long.

7 is running similarly to 6 maybe better.

If you upgrade to 6 between now and the new year you get 7 too

That's why I am upgrading from 5 to 7. 6 seemed worth it to me as well but I'm currently on a bi-annual upgrade schedule. Gets too expensive upgrading every year, the missus tends to give me a hard time. Actually looking forward to the suite though, with the instruments and all. Glad I didn't buy sampler last year. I'll spend the $499 for the boxed suite and will be good for another two years at least.
