Different MP3 sound levels

Post by Tain_1 » Thu Oct 11, 2007 8:39 pm

Hi all this is my 1st post need help with live ver6 when using mp3's for live performance (Dj'in) ive noticed that some MP3's are slightly lower in volume ?? Is this due too the quality of the download or the bitrate of the MP3 or sumthin ?? :(
Can Live enhance the volume of the MP3's that are slighty lower in volume in anyway...or can Live alter the bitrate of your whole collection all at once ???

Any input/ideas welcome !!

There are several ways you can raise the volume of the track you're playing in Live....does that not work for you?

Changing the bitrate on the mp3 will not affect anything like that....the damage is already done to the audio file by the mp3 encoding.

+1 great program, does not change your files, just adds metadata to do normalisation.

You can normalize them in Ableton as well don't forget. I find if DJ'n with LIVE anything other then WAVE files just dosen't sound right on a big sound system. That's probably a debate in itself but for me the compression that is applied to an MP3 takes something away from the original WAVE file. Of course that's totally down to my own preference. Lots of well known DJs play MP3 and it works for them.
