external hard drive

Just wondering how other people have thers set up.Would ya just put all your sample on it r would ya put programs on it.Im thinking about getting 1 but dont really know the ins and outs of them.

i am currently rocking a western dgital 500GB mybook portable drive and it rocks. i use it to hold all my refills and samples. if you want to use it in live qall you have to do is adjust your preferences in live for the folder/drive your library is in and voila. there really is no lag with the loading. heck its faster than my laptop 5200rpm drive while my portable is 7200rpm.

yea, just change the location of your vst folder in preferences. however, make sure you have some critical vsts in your internal drive because sometimes you wont be carrying that external yet you will fiend for making music.
