after live 7 will recycle be obsolete?

Post by aisling » Sat Oct 27, 2007 12:04 am

I have been on a MILES DAVIS kick latley. I have been taking various phrases and building on top of them. It made me consider if I should have recycle to convert my samples into REX files. Short of having them in rex format, Live 7 seems to make this need obsolete.
Will recycle still be relevent after live 7?

IMO probably, the rex file type is common across lots of platforms. the Live slicer is just inside Live, Live clips and .als projects

rex has been rock solid since the 90's

I think recycle will remain relevant for years to come.

It is the only software that can create rex files.

nearly every DAW, and softsampler supports rex format.

yes it bugs me that it is mono...........it makes loops sound so horrible once you put the stereo wav loop into recycle and then stylus rmx sage convertor.

completely different apps.

ReCycle can save to rx2 and other formats. Live can't.

Since Recycle 2.0 you can make stereo files in rex2 format. You must been using an older version (or reading old comments) :)

But what if I want it for things other than drums. I have visions of taking recorded guitar phrases, and such and making them into rex files for my tracks where the bpm exceeds my guitar chops?

yup, I've been doing this for years. I have rexed pretty much everything and imported into into stylus rmx. can't wait to bring it directly into live
