Selling MPC, which pad interface should I replace it with?

I want something with quick timing and reliable drivers.

Trigger Finger?
PadKontrol?
Akai MPD?

Or should I just learn to use my MIDI keyboard keys better?

I think it's an even debate between the Trigger Finger and PadKontrol. Trigger Finger if you want the faders. PadKontrol if you want the x/y pad with some flam action.

I have a Akai MPD. Its wicked. the pads are really nice and the pots have a nice smooth firm resistance to them.
If you are going to use a Akai MPD with Live then you will need to do a fair bit of manual set up, but there is a REALLY good thread on this site which tells you EXACTLY how to get it all configured and going, and then its a once off setup...

I would recomend the Akai MPD

Why don't you just use your MPC as a midi controller? Pads are pads...midi is midi and you've got the sampler packed inside if you ever need it. Why would a midi controller pads be any quicker than MPC pads? No reason to go downgrade to midi only just because you're not using the sampling portion ATM...

Or don't you have any USB & controls on your keyboard that you need USB & controls on your pad controller that bad?

the mpc is the best pad controller there is.

you should just keep it, unless you really need the money

can you midi map the mpcs knobs to control Live's effects? Can you use its usb port to link up with my imac? On the akai page it says for external storage, i think they would advertise if it could link up. sorry for the noob questions.

I am assuming mpc 1000, then
then you can map the q-link knobs and sliders to send midi

and no you cannot use usb to send midi

you would need a midi to usb cable( a few dollars on ebay)

i dont have any mpcs I was just asking a general question in a thread that was about them.

i use my mpc 1000 with ableton, and its a wkd. i considered selling mine, but there r some obvious reasons not to. firstly with the 1000 and 2500 and the jj os, u can assign any button/slider to ableton, its amazing to dj with. i hav bank A used to trigger track 1, each pad triggering a song, and then one button used to stop, and bank B to channel 2, i hav everything going thru my mixer so i can use the crossfader, upfaders and eq's on my mixer to mix each channel, and the pads to trigger, i can dj and mix mp3 and vinyl now with ease. for produciton, i record synths and drum kits controlled via the mpc, and record the midi into the mpc, so i get the swing of the mpc (this is a good reason not to sell the mpc as no controller will offer the unique timing settings of the mpc). then i record back into ableton without quantise so it keeps the swing settings of the mpc intact. here loops made from synths and drum kits and samples programmed on the mpc sound sooo much better than programmed direct on ableton, which sound a little too robotic, and then recording it all back into ableton to do more complex sequencing with all the automation, and then to master is a breaze. the ultimate set up if u ask me. using the mpc this way is more than just using as a controller, u hav a real efficient sequencer, completely hands on, with all the benefits of ableton. my two favourite things about music production in one setup - the mpc and ableton. be it for dj'ing or making tracks. plus having the note repeat button on the mpc makes producing drums that much more interesting, makes u think of things u wouldnt normally b able to.
