Could it be down to the 64 bit operation?

aight, so i just tried this and.. well..

1) Ableton Live CPU Meter: 49%
2) Desktop: Custom Built
3: Operating System: Snow Leopard 10.6.2 (hackingtosh, yes. retail though.)
4) Ableton Live version: Live 8.1.5b2
5) CPU Make, Model and Speed: Intel core 2 duo, 3.2ghz, 1 processor with 2mb cache per core.
6) Amount of RAM: 4gb.
7) Soundcard: Zoom R16 (tested), M-audio audiophile 2496 (also tested with slightly higher results).
8) Hard Disk Drive Speed: 7200rpm.
9) Number of playback tracks? 2 tracks -.-

now, i know some of you are gonna jump at me and blame it on the fact that im using a hackintosh, but consider this then: it was working perfectly some time ago, using the very same hackintosh. some of you might even jump at me that its because of snow leopard, but was working perfectly too. infact, this started happening upon updating to 8.1.4+ and the betas, using the very same hardware with the same operating system and the same kexts running the exact same things. each update has been running slightly higher on the cpu then the former one.
interesting, no? -.-

oh and yeah, playing back more then two is giving me horrible crackles. everything is up to date too.
