This forum runs on PHPBB. They need to install something like this:
http://bbantispam.com/tc/

It works for several of the forums I created on various sites.

The best part is once it's installed you don't have to do anything.
Have you emailed that link to Ableton? It might be a good idea if not because it sounds like a possible quick solution.

I totally agree about cleaning this crap out of here, even if you're just browsing the general page it's not good if you're at work and somebody looks over your shoulder and reads one of those thread titles.

I pretty much cant look at the forum at work now.

Not so much because of the pron links which are just text after all, but more for the dodgy pictures that get posted on threads. no auto spam filter gonna get rid of them.

The filter makes it almost impossible for SpamBots to sign up. Users signing up for the forum would have to answer a question designed by Ableton.

For example... What city is the Ableton headquarters?

Makes no difference in IE (and before I get flamed for using IE it's my employers PC so I have no choice)

As you say back on topic.

CTRL+scrollwheel = horizontal scrolling hell. All that's needed is to specify font-size in em or % instead of pt or px.

Back on topic - sorry I ever bought it up

The Ableton forum is absolutely no place for debauchery and all those kinds of out of control orgies which i'm never invited to :(

just let the ones to BIG TITS & PENIS ENLARGEMENT get thru the filter please

Bump.

What is it with Viagra? Half the spam around these days seems to be pushing it, now it's cropping up on forums. Surely, if you have an erectile problem and need Viagra you just go out and find it, it's one of those things that shouldn't need advertising.

Really. Not to mention who on earth would purchase any kind of service from a spam email or post?

"Sure, here's my personal, credit card, and banking info - you seem honest and I trust you"

I mean come on man, who actually sends business to these people? If I want porn I already know where to find it for free, if I want viagra or any other med I can get a script from my doctor, if I want to refinance my mortgage I would see my banker, if I want a nice watch for my wife there is always my jewler, if I want stock tips I'd probably call a broker, if I were looking for "cheap adobe pro sweet" I'd just grab a frickin torrent if I didn;t already own it and wanted to go that route.... etc. etc.

Not once have I ever opened a spam email and said hmm..... interesting... might be worth looking into.

Seems like a lot of energy for nothing. But from what I hear the overhead is so low that if these spammers get a .05% return it is all worth while.

Or, "Hmm, maybe my penis actually is too small, after all I am caucasion, I'm going to get myself one of those special machines from that handy little ad in my inbox. My girlfriend will love me so much I'll be able to update Live without hiding my account details from her"

If your a teacher my suggestion is to "cya" at all times, deny any knowledge of a user forum.
