I hung with a lot of people growing up. There was a crew of what I call "red neck" cats from my neighborhood, PCP smoking, racist, homophobic, whiskey drinking, fighting, motorcycle gangs, etc. etc.

Judas Priest was one of the bands all of these guys idolized and I have to tell you that it gave me the greatest pleasure to let them know that Rob Halford was a homosexual.

Just to see the look on their faces as they tried to digest it.... to somehow find a way to "give him a pass" (which they ended up doing). Not that it opened their minds in the least, but it definitely shook them up a bit. 'Specially when they tried to clown me about the "fag music" that I listened to.

then so many singers of today have to hide their sexuality to keep their careers because they can't get 'a pass'. could you imagine if your multi multi million dollar fan base depended on you fooling the public that you were a GAY male when you're actually straight? the clothes would be better but you'd have to hang out with Margaret Cho. then there was Ellen Degeneris' coming out. oh no, will they cancel her show and smash her career? pinche gente...
