Audio editor for osx??

Post by Yhtomit » Tue Jan 08, 2008 6:45 pm

So ive switched to mac and now im really surprised there is no nice audio editor like Wavelab or Audition. huh? :?
Peak just doesnt cut it and then Im also testing Wave Editor but its even worse.
Whats up with that?
I am so used to cool edit pro (and audition 1) after all these years...........
Peak, however does work nice with my MPC and Aksys. I apply regions in Peak, drop it into the mpc and press "chop regions" :D Supah sweet! ReCycle s export option to akp is no more needed. So I think I will go and purchase Peak.. But I would like to know if theres a better alternative available for the mac os. Anybody know of any?

I have a Peak question 4 u guys >
How do you zoom easily with you MOUSE and also that it zooms towards the LOCATOR. Zooming and looping drumbeats and other loops is tedious and takes way too long. If only there was a faster method.
atm Im using a sticky to transfer audio files between mac - pc so i can use audition.

Is there a reason Wavelab and Audition isnt available for the mac?? Because its odd to say at least

I suggest Amadeus II or Amadeus Pro. It's like 20 bucks.

There's also Soundtrack Pro and the free audacity. Oh and I think Audiofinder works as a sort of audio editor too.

best wave editor on OS X right now is Soundtrack Pro, in my opinion. but you can only get it with Final Cut or Logic Pro. the wave editor inside Logic Express is actually pretty good too. for standalone i'd go with WaveEditor or maybe even Fission. it's not super feature packed but its fast and cheap and does some interesting things. http://www.rogueamoeba.com/fission/

Anyone feel like dropping an old "please bring it to Mac" line at
here or here yet?

people talk about Live + ProTools/Ripper....
pfffssssssstt, wusses,
i'd go for Live + Audition in a heartbeat.

fission is a find, though,
will try it shortly, thanks.
-kind of simple, though, seems more like a dj/chopper tool

I tried using it to cut loops out of aac files and it can't go into that great of resolution.

Nice though if it fits your needs.....

Seriously. I don't know how you'd ever need more than what Amadeus offers.

Im trying Fission and it seems like a good chopping tool but Im unable to disble the "snap to grid" option.. and also, you cant zoom closely enough to loop for example. so i cant create synth sounds for my sampler!

Exactly...I even emailed them about this and they said that was the best it's gonna get because of some technical excuse which sounded believable...
