Please recommend me a Laptop...

Post by Dr Dub » Wed Jan 16, 2008 5:49 am

mainly for Live, but also for my other Computer Stuff.

I hoped for a new Macbook pro yesterday, which i would have eventually bought, but i need the Computer now and it seems it will be a Windows Machine.

I can spend up to 1800 Euro.

I would prefer a 15.4 Screen with a high resolution, 1680 * 1050 or at least 1440 * 900 and would like to have a good build quality.

So far, i looked at the top Thinkpads and the top HP ones, but the options are so endless.

This Computer will have to last for quite a long Time, so what would YOU do?

I had been hoping for new MBP on Macworld, didn't happen, too bad. Anyway, PC laptops are still among my choice. I wonder about the keyboard for us musicians though.

Does any PC laptop exist with keyboard backlight? Does the MBP keyboard backlight work when using Windows with Bootcamp anyway? I read that Lenovo laptops come with an LED light for the keyboard?

I don't get people who are upset Apple didn't announce some huge Macbook Pro inovation yesterday, as if the current Macbook Pros are useless POS.

The answer to "which laptop?" is still MBP, especially if you were already considering one.

Cheers for pointing them out. Just had a go configuring one:

878 euros for 4gb, 2*2.4 T8300 penryn proc, 160HD, 512MB video. Without VAT or opperating system, but even so, that's no bad. That looks pretty promising? What's with these penryn processors though? This is the first I've seen of them, but they seem to be intel's new baby.

Sorry, that's more my budget. Back to OP.

BTW I like the way every pipes up with "Mac". OP already said he's looked at macs and wants some windows suggestions as well.

I pointed to Cizmo, but they come in different brand names depends which country you live in i think(rebranded), they are all Clevo.
The one i have is packed with a intel mobo, intell dual core 2.4 ghz (santarossa) intel chipset.
This thing rocks very much for its price. very happy with it

Macbook with bootcamp rather than MBp.

I did, best move I ever made.

I hardly use windows not - the mac so takes getting used too but then its great. . .

Cheers

I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

With Penryn just around the corner I try to stay calm and wait some more before going shopping for a Lappy.
