Roland acquires major share of Cakewalk... no big surprise there...

NEKO systems partner with Timbaland to create a synth that costs $5,000... almost as much as my down payment on my new home.

Spectrasonics announce a new soft synth called Omnisphere that will cost $499 and won't even be ready until the 4th quarter of this year. Meanwhile, we still can't properly run Atmosphere on our Intel Based Macs.

Novation release a pretty cool, affordable little midi controller.

I would love to see the MPC users around here weigh in on this; looks pretty frickin' awesome, even has XLR/combi inputs!

I guess no price yet though...

The MPC-5000 looks like a copy of the Roland MV in a way, but this MPC seems much more open to electronic musicians , they have Arp and Synth built in, and even the video demo shows a techno tune, i have never seen a demo of an MPC with electronic music in mind first  . Im looking forward to seeing it and playing with it, I have a Roland Mv-8800 and compared to this mpc it seems way to HOP

Interesting, looks more like pitched against Dave Smith new machine, I will definitely get one of the 2 but more chances for Dave. Akai synth ? Probably repacked Alesis Ion.Thank you very much.
They already overtaken the "huge and gigantic" Novation in the field of idiotic statements in ads.
"The MPC5000's virtual analog synth eliminates need for external analog synth modules or buggy software based synthesizers. "

This could be the one I've been waiting for; though it looks freaking huge. Could do with only four channels rather than six, but oh well.

It will also no doubt be quite expensive if the VCI-100 is any indication.

We're definitely getting there though.

I'm still cool with the 2000XL, but I've gotta say this new MPC looks shit hot.

I bet there's a lotta pissed off 4000 owners out there...wait..after a bit of research this in many ways is starting to look lik a downgrade from the 4000. :(

If the price is right I really would pick this one up. I'm not even happy with any software samplers at this point except for Battery.

Roger Linn and Dave Smith are much more of a threat. fuck akai and their non-existent customer support, their flaky pad design and for being outgunned by the JJOS guys.
