BT's This Binary Universe: Suggestions for more like this?

Well I never thought I'd be into a BT album, but I must say, I can't get enough of this one. It's glitchy production and interesting sound design aspect to satisfy my tech-geek side, but also very nice melodies and rythms with odd time signatures etc. Very lenjoyable over all.

But I'm sure you guys have lots of suggestions for artists with similar styles, so I'd love to hear about 'em!

Many thanks good peeps!

Well, not totally the same style, but I'd think you'd like Tipper perhaps (tippermusic.net), as well as Kilowatts' album "Problem / Solving". Maybe Bil Bless on the glitchier end of things. Hybrid have the glitchy beats meets good melodies thing down well too.

Anything by Amon Tobin, but a little more on the violent side. Or maybe I am completely off here.

I was gonna say anything by John Tesh, but that would be unfair.

It's more like anything by Yanni.

Can we have a big fight about it now?

Ya, I'm a big fan of Amon Tobin. I've got his stuff. That's a fair bit more drum n' bassy though, rather than the glitchy/melodic downtempo.

Not really into Yanni. Not really into arguing about music tastes either. That would be like arguing about our favorite colors.

So I take it you suggest John Tesh? Is that unfair because he's much 'better' than BT?

Ya used to be pretty into Akufen. Definitely good stuff. But I'm not really talking about up-tempo/techno here. More the downtempo, musical stuff.

So Wagon Repair eh? I thought that was a techno/house label. I only know Cobblestone Jazz from that label.

What's a good on-line site for checking this stuff out anyways?

Whoa, that's crazy. Doc, I replied to your thread before checking the wagon repair link. What do I see when I click it? A new cobblestone jazz album. I saw those guys in Victoria like 6 years ago, and I remembered wagon repair from that. Weird coincidence.

The site doesn't have anything else to check out though it seems.

Not really Akufen's music, but Marc Leclair's album is a sort of what you're looking for (not tha melodic as BT's, but slow, glitchy, electronic, drones, textures...)

It's a great album by the way, and Marc IS akufen's real name, but making not techno music...

Have a listen on Boomkat: Musique Pour 3 Femmes Enceintes

This is definitely my album of 06. It's just awesome, esp if you watch the DVD version.

Wonderful.
