The logic would be to sample in stereo , as vinyl already has a stereo signal it's emitting ... if tehre are any subtilities eg in the stereofield that adds to that particular sample, you would loose it in mono ... me thinks.

I agree.

Also, if it's for drums or percussions, try in mono for a better dynamic.
