Recording filter changes - external synth

I have a number of clips set up playing an external synth in session view which I want to record into an arrangement.

I started by recording the basic structure with all the changes between scenes into the arrangement. No problem.
I then hit record again and tried to overdub the changes to filters etc on the external synth but none of the changes are recorded.

Is there a way of capturing these changes on the external synth in arrangement view as midi data?

I tried the same thing in Logic and all changes I make are captured so I'm pretty sure all the midi side of things is set up correctly to send cc's on the synth.

Thanks for the help!

this one of the oddest behaviours in Live imo.

you can record external midi changes, but only in session view, as clip envelopes.
so for each movement you wish to record, you need a new clip.
the problem with this 'workaround' is that you can't see the movement of a particular CC for the whole track at once. you have to dig inside each clip to see and edit the changes.

This needs to be addressed in an update.

see for eg this thread in the Features Requests, but it's been mentioned loads of times.

Ok. This is not good.
As most of my stuff uses an external synth with lots of parameter changes It seems my music is "stuck" inside Ableton Live.
That is unless I spend a lot of time doing artwork with the pencil tool!

What I did in the end to get a quick and dirty bounce was set up Audio hijack in the background and just record it that way.

Please Ableton - fix in an update.
