Offsetting audio clips

Post by catch22 » Wed Mar 26, 2008 9:47 am

I have a scene playing an 8 bar midi beat in 1 clip.
If I then want to add an Audio clip to the same scene playing a reverse crash at the end of the 8 bars how do I do this?

At the moment both clips launch at the same time when I launch the scene.

I can't seem to figure out (with audio clips) how to offset when they play within a scene.
If someone could point me to the page in the manual or give me some instructions that would be great.

Thanks

I can't really answer your question off hand, but I have a much easier
solution : simply drag the reversed crash into a Simpler, Impulse slot or
Sampler. In Sampler, you can even reverse the sample without creating a
new audio file. This way, you can trigger it exactly when you want to, by
simply making it an integrated variation on the MIDI beat.

If you're on Live 7, you have virtually no limitations, with drum racks and all.

clip view - sample window - hit the rev button to reverse a clip

then there's the start flag in clip view to set where the clip should start playing, move it around until it lines up.

Easiest way, imo, is to record an 8-bar audio clip that's mostly silence + your reverse cymbal. Assign sample start times as necessary.

If all you got is the cymbal sample, do this:
His reverse button in clip window
click-hold-tab the clip to paste it into arrangement view
draw 8 or so bars of silence next to the reversed cymbal clip
highlight 8 bars total (including the whole rev. sample)
click Consolidate (under Edit menu, or cmd-j)
click-hold-tab to bring it back to Session view.
